Description
Bushmills World Wood Series 18 Year Old is a Global Travel Retail exclusive, first released into Asia Pacific travel retail from May 2025, with a wider global travel retail rollout from January 2026.
Matured in bourbon barrels and Oloroso sherry butts for a minimum of 17 years, then finished in rare Colheita port casks, this release marks a first for Bushmills. A key production detail is that the port casks were refilled quickly, with no more than a week between being emptied in northern Portugal and being filled with mature Irish whiskey in Northern Ireland, helping preserve freshness and aromatic lift.
Colheita is a single vintage port, produced using grapes from a single year’s harvest and aged for a minimum of seven years. Unlike standard tawny port, it is not blended for consistency, meaning flavour can vary year to year. To complement Bushmills’ floral, fruity character, Thomas chose Colheita that had been maturing for 15 to 20 years, allowing the port to soak deeply into the oak and deliver intense fruit richness and a silky crème brûlée sweetness. Bottled at 46% ABV, the final profile is fruit forward, bringing together vanilla and almond from bourbon wood, deeper dried fruit and subtle spice from Oloroso, and fresh, intense fruit notes from the Colheita finish, with layers of spiced fruit and velvety honey sweetness through the finish.
