Wu Dram Clan Rhum J.M Brut de Fût 2015

This single cask J.M was selected by Wu Dram Clan from the far-north Martinique distillery under Mont Pelee, an agricole made from fresh-pressed sugarcane juice under the island's AOC. Distilled in 2015 and aged eight years, it is bottled unsweetened at cask strength, 53.3 percent.

Column distilled and matured in ex-bourbon wood, it drinks far more easily than its proof suggests, the heat well tucked away. The nose offers roasted nuts, dark chocolate, pastry and burnt sugar, with red berries and baked apple filling the palate alongside a creamy, naturally sweet texture and gentle spice. The finish runs long and warm on roasted notes, dark chocolate, caramel and coffee. A rounded, almost dessert-leaning agricole that smooths the usual grassy snap into something richer.
