A 10 year Worthy Park finished in Calvados casks, the distillery’s clean pot still fruit met with baked apple, vanilla and gentle spice, an unsweetened and easy-going sipper at 45% that keeps the house DNA while leaning soft and fruity.
Description
Worthy Park is the precise, modern face of Jamaican pot still, single-estate and moderate in ester, drawing its funk from fermentation alone rather than dunder or muck. This distillery bottling, distilled in 2012 and aged ten years, takes that clean base and finishes it in Calvados casks for an apple-forward twist.
Distilled from molasses on a Forsyths pot still and matured ten years before the Calvados finish, it shows baked apple, vanilla and oak on the nose, then apple, tropical fruit and barrel on the palate, with the Calvados and vanilla carrying through a spicy finish. At 45% and unsweetened, the strength is friendly and the funk is tamed, the apple notes sitting naturally on Worthy Park's fruity frame. This is a characterful but relaxed sipper, the kind of release that suits drinkers who know the house and want a softer, fruitier variation on it.
