A ferocious unaged Jamaican overproof from Hampden in the DOK marque, the distillery’s highest ester recipe, throwing gluey esters, overripe banana and pineapple at a blistering 63%, a flavouring-grade white for seasoned funk hunters.
Description
This is a Hampden DOK bottled by Warehouse #1, an unaged white from the Trelawny estate that is the reference point for high-ester Jamaican funk. DOK is Hampden's most intense marque, sitting at the upper limit of the ester scale near Jamaica's legal ceiling, historically a flavouring rum rather than something meant to be drunk neat.
Hampden builds this character with long wild fermentation, dunder and muck pits and double-retort pot stills, and at full strength and no age the result is uncut hogo, glue, acetone and nail polish over overripe banana and pineapple with a fermented, tropical depth. At 63% it is hot, oily and uncompromising, the kind of pour measured in drops. For drinkers who already love DOK or Smith and Cross it delivers the full funky package, and it turns a cocktail inside out as a turbo-charged white.
