Velier Mother Mesccia Blanc 2025 is an unaged white rum bottled by Velier, the Italian house that is the most respected name in collectible rum. Distilled on a pot still from fresh sugarcane juice rather than molasses, it blends agricole style spirit, with a Haitian character that has been toned down and rounded out, bottled at a moderate 47% and offered as a vegetal, cocktail ready white.

Because it draws on cane juice from more than one origin it sits in the agricole family without claiming the protected name. The nose is fresh and green, citrus, sugarcane, grass and green olive, leading to a vegetal, saline palate where olive brine and cane sap dominate over sweetness. The finish stays sugarcane led with floral and peppery touches and a faint smoky note. Where a Haitian clairin can be turbo charged and feral, this is gentler and more composed, keeping the grassy, briny snap while dialling back the intensity. Best neat or in a Ti Punch.
