Velier, the defining collector name in Demerara under Luca Gargano, drew this from the Diamond estate, whose Savalle column still gives the cleanest and most approachable Guyanese cut, all molasses, toffee and chocolate rather than heavy pot still funk. Tropically aged at origin and bottled at natural 63.4 percent, unsweetened, it shows how much richness fast Caribbean maturation can pull from even the lighter still.
The spirit leads with vanilla, caramel, coconut and oak, then a palate of vanilla, tobacco and milk chocolate, finishing on caramel, anise, orange and dark chocolate. The profile is concentrated and dessert like, the sweetness coming from sixteen tropical years in wood rather than any dosage. Less funky and more coconut driven than the wooden still marques, this is a deep, indulgent pour for drinkers who already love heavy old Demerara and want the smoother, chocolate forward side of the category at full strength.
