Velier Caroni 5th Employees Deodat „Breeze“ Manmohan HTR 1996

This Velier Caroni 1996 honours Deodat Manmohan, another of the distillery's former employees in the series dedicated to the people behind the legendary Trinidad operation. Caroni closed in 2003, and Velier's tropically aged, full proof bottlings of its rescued casks are why its heavy rum is so sought after. This Heavy mark is 25 years old.

Matured at origin in ex-bourbon oak and bottled at a serious 66.7% without sweetening, it shows the classic industrial signature, tar, menthol and woody dirt, but with a sweeter, more polished character than many of its siblings: natural caramel richness, rubber, leather and herbs over deep oak. The finish is tarry, charred and long. This is a bottle for drinkers fully at home with full proof Caroni, delivering the workshop funk they expect alongside an unusual depth and roundness from the late 1990s vintage.
