Velier Caroni 3rd Employees Nita „Nitz“ Hogan 2000

This Velier Caroni honours Nita Hogan, one of the distillery's former employees, part of the series that pays tribute to the people behind Trinidad's legendary closed distillery. Caroni ceased production in 2003, and Velier's tropically aged, full proof bottlings of its rescued casks are the reason its name carries such weight. This 2000 vintage is 20 years old.

Matured at origin in ex-bourbon oak and bottled at a towering 65.2% without sweetening, it is a heavy Caroni at full intensity: tar, rubber and roasted notes on the nose, then a dense palate of tar, leather, burnt sugar and vanilla, closing on tobacco, mint and caramel. The finish seems to go on without end. This is a bottle for drinkers already at home with the industrial style, offering all the tar and menthol they want with the depth and balance that mark the best of the 2000 vintage.
