Ti Arrangés de Ced‘ Kumquat Café Les Rhums de Ced

This is a rhum arrange from Ti Arranges de Ced, the French style of macerating fruit and other flavourings in rum, here built on a Martinique cane-juice base and infused with kumquat and coffee. It is a flavoured, sweetened preparation rather than a straight agricole, and it is honest about that, bottled low at 32%.

The nose carries citrus, espresso, a liqueur quality and a vegetal agricole edge, while the palate brings coffee, citrus and wood over the cane base. The coffee is the dominant note, lifted by a splash of citrus, and the whole reads soft and sweet, closer to a liqueur than a sipping rum. Taken on those terms it is an easygoing, dessert-leaning pour, the kind of arrange meant to be enjoyed chilled and sweet rather than judged as a dry agricole.
