Description
The Island Rum Company Vigia Ron La Progresiva de Vigia Mezcla 8 is an eight year old Cuban rum from the Vigia distillery in Cienfuegos, bottled by The Island Rum Company. It belongs to a newer wave of Cuban rum aimed squarely at sipping rather than mixing.
Column distilled from molasses and aged in ex-bourbon, and bottled at 41%, it should show the clean Cuban backbone with added warmth from the barrel, vanilla, light caramel and soft oak spice. The added-sugar status is not recorded, but the style points to a smooth, balanced and modern Cuban anejo built for the glass.
