A distillery bottling of Talisker and bottled at 48%. 6000 bottles in all. Talisker, built in 1831 at Carbost at Carbost on Skye's wild west coast, is a Diageo Classic Malt. Water comes from the Cnoc nan Speireag, the Hawk Hill, springs above the distillery.

Distilled in tall stills with U shaped lyne arms and condensed in worm tubs, from peated Glen Ord malt, building the smoky, briny Skye character. A European oak cask added a spiced, dried fruit edge to the smoke. Carrying no age, it leans on peat smoke, brine and a black pepper kick. Years in oak round the smoke, the pepper and brine settling with the wood. Medium peated malt from Glen Ord gives the smoke, the water from the Hawk Hill springs. After a stillhouse fire in 1960, the five stills were rebuilt as exact replicas. The distillery faces the water across to the hills of Skye.

At its natural 48% it is rich and peppery. The European oak adds a spiced, dried fruit edge, and sea brine, smoke and a black pepper kick ride over a vanilla from the refill oak beneath. The mouthfeel is oily, the smoke carried on a peppery body. The finish is deep, oily and peppery. This is Skye's famous peppery single malt.
