Description
A distillery bottling from the Speyside Distillery and bottled at 46%. Only 6000 bottles were released. Painstakingly built by hand before its first spirit in 1990 at Drumguish by the River Tromie, the Speyside Distillery is one of Scotland's smallest. Its two small pot stills, among the smallest in Scotland, sit with the whole production under one roof.
Distilled in two of the smallest pot stills in Scotland under a single roof, giving the delicate, floral spirit at its heart. A Port cask shaped it, the red fruit meeting the light spirit. With no age statement, it shows a light, fruity body and a honeyed lift. Years in oak round the spirit, the honey and orchard fruit deepening with age. George Christie bought the land in 1956, dreaming of his own small malt distillery. A stonemason, Alex Fairlie, laid every stone of the distillery by hand over some twenty years.
At 46% it is smooth and fruity. The Port cask adds plum, red berry and raisin, and vanilla and a creamy note from the barrel runs under honey, apple and a soft spice. It is fragrant and rounded, the fruit and oak well matched. The finish runs fresh, soft and fragrant. This is a clean, fragrant Speyside single malt.
