Speyside SPEY Tenné Cask #Batch 1

This Speyside Distillery single malt, an official release, drawn from cask Batch 1 and bottled at 59.5%. 1500 bottles in all. The Speyside Distillery was built by hand on a former barley mill site at Tromie Mills, the most southerly Speyside distillery; it gave the screen distillery Lagganmore in Monarch of the Glen. The SPEY range and the dark Beinn Dubh are bottled by Harvey's of Edinburgh.

Distilled on River Tromie water in a tiny pair of pot stills, building the gentle Speyside style it is loved for. Maturation in a Port cask lent plum and red berry. Carrying no age, it leans on apple, pear and a soft vanilla. The slow loss of the angel's share concentrates the honeyed, fruity core over time. The SPEY range and the dark Beinn Dubh are bottled by Harvey's of Edinburgh. Short stills and slow, hands on distillation coax a light, fruity spirit.

At a full 59.5% it is intense yet fruity. The Port cask adds plum, red berry and raisin, and fragrant honey and ripe fruit meet soft vanilla and honey from the cask. Soft orchard fruit and vanilla sit behind the sweetness. Apple, honey and oak draw out the close. This is a gentle, honeyed Speyside malt.
