This official Speyside Distillery single malt, drawn from cask Batch 3 and bottled at 57.5%. A release of 1500 bottles. The Speyside Distillery, built by hand on a former barley mill site at Tromie Mills, the most southerly Speyside distillery, is the source of the SPEY malts. George Christie bought the land in 1956 and had a stonemason raise the distillery by hand over the years that followed.

Distilled on River Tromie water in a tiny pair of pot stills, building the gentle Speyside style it is loved for. Maturation came in American oak, with vanilla under the orchard fruit. With no age statement, it shows a light, fruity body and a honeyed lift. The short stills give body, which slow running and a clean cut keep light. Short stills and slow, hands on distillation coax a light, fruity spirit. The site was a working barley mill from the 1700s until 1965. A long fermentation builds the fruity esters that mark the house style.

At its natural 57.5% it is concentrated. Orchard fruit and a floral lift sit alongside soft vanilla and honey from the cask. A ripe pear and a gentle spice lift it. A fruity, gently spiced finish lingers. This is the fresh Speyside style of the SPEY range.
