A distillery bottling of Speyburn, a 12 year old Speyside malt from 2012, drawn from cask 494 and bottled at 55.6%. Just 276 bottles were filled. Speyburn, built in 1897 in the Glen of Rothes on Speyside, was designed by the pagoda architect Charles Doig. It was the first Scottish distillery fitted with drum maltings, which still stand on site.

Distilled in classic Speyside onion stills and condensed in traditional worm tubs, giving the fragrant, rounded spirit at its heart. It was matured in refill ex-Bourbon oak, lending honey and vanilla. Mid age brings a deeper honey and a riper dried fruit note. Years in oak round the spirit, the honey and orchard fruit deepening with age. Bradan Orach, the distillery's youngest core malt, is Gaelic for golden salmon. Speyburn sits in a wooded glen on the edge of Rothes, one of Speyside's prettiest distilleries. Charles Doig, who designed it, invented the pagoda roof now seen across Scotch distilleries.

At cask strength 55.6% it is full bodied. The refill oak lending honey and vanilla, with pear, honey and a fragrant lift. The texture is rounded and soft, the fruit lifted by honey. The finish is rounded, honeyed and soft. This is the fresh Speyside malt of the Glen of Rothes.
