A distillery bottling of Speyburn, an 18 year old release and bottled at 46%. Set in the heart of Speyside at Rothes, Speyburn has distilled since 1897. It was the first Scottish distillery fitted with drum maltings, which still stand on site.

The spirit was made in copper onion stills, the spirit cooled in worm tubs, for a fruity, honeyed make of real charm. Ex-Bourbon casks held the spirit, soft oak that lets the fruit lead. At this age it is rounded and full, the fruit folded into a honeyed, waxy body. Long, gentle ageing turns the orchard fruit towards honey and soft spice. Worm tub condensers are still used, lending the make a rounded, fragrant weight. The first spirit ran in a December snowstorm in 1897, to date the fillings to the Diamond Jubilee. Water is drawn from the Granty Burn, a clear tributary of the Spey. Inver House runs Speyburn alongside Old Pulteney, Balblair and anCnoc.

Bottled at 46%, it is rounded. Vanilla and a creamy note from the barrel, with pear, honey and a fragrant lift. The texture is rounded and soft, the fruit lifted by honey. A warming, fruity finish lingers. This is the fresh Speyside malt of the Glen of Rothes.
