Sansibar Uitvlugt Selection Sansibar 1998

Sansibar is a German label known for selecting characterful single casks, and this 1998 draws on Uitvlugt, the closed coastal Guyanese estate. It spent 17 years in ex-bourbon before bottling at a full 52%.

Uitvlugt is associated with the Savalle column still and sits among the lighter, more refined Demerara profiles. Expect a clean, fruity character with orchard and citrus fruit, light spice and gentle wood, carried by nearly two decades of maturation and bottled at natural strength for full intensity. Molasses based and from an estate no longer producing, it shows the cleaner, more elegant side of Guyanese rum undiluted.
