Rum Runner DDL Rum

Rum Runner DDL Rum is a younger Guyanese rum from Demerara Distillers stock, bottled unsweetened by Rum Runner at 51% from the permanent range. At five years it leans on the naturally rich, gourmand side of Demerara, the dark molasses character that comes through even without any dosage.

The nose is sweetish and inviting with burnt sugar, honey and wood, while the palate turns dark with brown sugar, nutty notes and spice. The finish is roasted and dark with coffee and chocolate. The overall impression is of a baked, dessert-like rum, all caramel, burnt sugar, nutmeg and vanilla over coffee, chocolate and roasted nuts, yet the label states no sugar has been added, so the sweetness reads as the natural pull of dark Demerara molasses rather than dosage. This is a warming, everyday Guyana rum that punches above its modest age.
