Rum Nation Warehouse #1 2008 is a Reunion cane-juice rum bottled by Rum Nation, the Italian house known for well-regarded regional releases. Drawn from the 2008 vintage and bottled at thirteen years old at cask strength, it shows the bottler's taste for older, characterful single-origin spirit, with no added sugar to soften the picture.

Distilled from fresh sugarcane juice on a column still and matured in ex-bourbon oak, the spirit has taken on a dark, wood-forward shape. The nose runs woody and spicy with cherry and chocolate, while the palate is roasted and woody with vanilla and dark fruit, closing nutty and fruity. At a full 59% it is a strong, mature rum that rewards a few drops of water and some air in the glass. This is one for drinkers who like their aged cane-juice rum powerful and oak-driven rather than light and grassy.
