Rum Nation Enmore Small Batch Rare Rums 1997

An Enmore from Italy's Rum Nation, here in the drier Rare Rums tradition rather than their softer Spanish-style work. Distilled in 1997 and aged nineteen years, it pairs the woody Enmore base with an oloroso sherry influence for a richer, more vinous take on the marque.

The pot-still spirit brings a high-ester, almost Jamaican funk of glue and solvents, while the sherry layers in dried fruit, leather and nuts. Bottled near full proof at 58.7% and unsweetened, the alcohol is well integrated for the strength, with a long, spicy finish carrying roasted wood and dark chocolate. The combination of Demerara depth, sherry richness and that solvent edge makes for a demanding but rewarding sipper for experienced palates.
