Description
Single malt Royal Brackla, an independent van Wees bottling, a 12 year old release from 2008, drawn from cask 7 and bottled at 58.2%. Only 699 bottles were released. Royal Brackla, built in 1812 by Captain William Fraser in Nairnshire, by Cawdor Castle, is the first Royal distillery in Scotch. It was the first Scotch whisky to hold a royal warrant, renewed by Queen Victoria in 1838.
Drawn off copper stills with horizontal shell and tube condensers, building the elegant Highland style it is loved for. An American oak cask shaped it, flattering the elegant, fruity make. Mid age brings a fuller honey and a deeper dried fruit note. The light, elegant spirit shows cask character clearly even after years in oak. Queen Victoria renewed the royal warrant in 1838, confirming its regal standing. The house style leans on sherry wood, building a fruity, dried fruit character. Tall copper stills and a long fermentation give an elegant, fragrant spirit.
Undiluted at 58.2%, it is layered. A fruity, honeyed elegance meet honeyed oak sweetness underneath. Beneath it run honey, apple and a warm spice. A fruity, gently spiced finish lingers long. This is an elegant, fruity Highland single malt.
