Ron Blanco

Bermudez is one of the Dominican Republic's three B's, one of the island's foundational rum houses. This Ron Blanco is a young, light expression at two years, lightly aged in ex-bourbon oak and then presented pale. Built on Dominican column-still molasses spirit, it should be clean and soft, with a faint vanilla and cane note from its brief time in wood. Bottled at a gentle 37.5%, it is aimed at mixing and easy drinking rather than sipping. As a light Dominican white, it works as a smooth, approachable cocktail base, carrying citrus and sugar well. Expect a mellow, lightly sweet character typical of the island's lighter rons rather than anything bold or oak-driven.
