Rhum Attitude, the Brussels specialist, selected this single cask Worthy Park distilled in 2013 and drawn straight from the barrel at its shop. Worthy Park is the clean, precise St. Catherine estate, 100% pot still with esters from fermentation alone, and this nine year old pushes its fruit into livelier, more acidic territory than usual, bottled at cask strength 65.7%.

Matured around seven years in US ex-bourbon oak under Jamaican heat with no added sugar, it opens on banana, passion fruit, fruitcake and an acidic lift, then the palate turns to overripe fruit, guava, rhubarb and berries. Tasters note the strength runs a little hot and the overripe fruit can edge toward the divisive, which marks this as a more demonstrative Worthy Park than the estate's polished norm. It suits drinkers who want big, tropical, slightly wild fruit at full proof and do not mind a touch of youthful alcohol, ideally with water to coax the fruit forward and settle the heat.
