Description
ReimonenQ is a Guadeloupe distillery, and this Phoenix from the 2018 harvest is one of its blancs, pressed from fresh sugar cane juice on a creole column still and bottled unsweetened at 50%. Guadeloupe sits under IGP rather than the Martinique AOC, and this release leans into the fruitier, more aromatic side of the unaged cane juice style.
The nose is fresh and fruity with a pastry like lift, layering green apple, kiwi and tropical fruit over a sugar cane core that tasters liken to toffee. The palate brings sugar cane, bitter orange, pear and more green apple, while the finish turns nutty and almond toned with kiwi and a fresh cane snap. Unusually fruit forward for a blanc yet still dry and cane driven, it stays smooth at 50% and shines neat, in a Ti Punch or in a Daiquiri.
