A distillery release of Isle of Raasay from the Na Sia Single Cask Series distilled in 2019, from cask 19/52 and bottled at 61.8%. Built by R&B Distillers, Raasay was the first legal distillery on the Isle of Raasay when it opened in 2017. The distillery is vertically integrated, doing everything on the island from mash to bottle.

The spirit was made in the distillery's pot stills, fed by the Celtic well, after a long fermentation of up to five days that builds a sweet blackberry fruit. Maturation came in American oak, with a generous vanilla and spice. Carrying no age, it leans on vivid fruit and active cask character. A short but intense maturation suits the fruit forward Raasay character. The distillery does everything in house, from mashing to bottling, on the island. Long five day fermentations coax a sweet blackberry note from the wash.

Bottled at a cask strength 61.8%, it is intense. The cask lends vanilla, baking spice and a honeyed sweetness over a gentle wisp of peat. The texture is bright and juicy, the fruit lifted by the cask. A warming, fruit forward finish lingers. This is the first legal single malt of the Isle of Raasay.
