Description
A distillery release of Isle of Raasay from the Limited Edition First Release, a 3 year old distilled in 2017 and bottled at 52%. Only 7500 bottles were released. Built by R&B Distillers, Raasay was the first legal distillery on the Isle of Raasay when it opened in 2017. The house makes both peated and unpeated spirit, married across six signature casks.
The spirit was made in the distillery's pot stills, fed by the Celtic well, after a long fermentation of up to five days that builds a sweet blackberry fruit. A red wine cask lent blackberry, plum and a wine stained colour. At this young age the fruit is vivid and the cask influence bold and bright. Maturation on the island, beside the sea, lends a clean coastal freshness. Every bottle is natural in colour and free of chill filtration. The Na Sia single casks let drinkers taste each thread of the six cask recipe.
Bottled at a cask strength 52%, it is intense. The wine cask adds blackberry, plum and a red berry lift over a gentle wisp of peat. The texture is bright and juicy, the fruit lifted by the cask. Dark fruit and spice see out a long finish. This is the first legal single malt of the Isle of Raasay.
