Ron Quorhum 30 Aniversario Oporto Finish is a Dominican ron from the blending house Oliver & Oliver, a molasses spirit distilled on a column still and given a final period in port casks. It sits in the soft, sweet Spanish style the house favours, wears a 30 on the label as a marker rather than a strict age, and is bottled at a gentle 40%.

The nose offers vanilla, caramel, raisin and fruit, with a sweet, fruity palate of port, spice and coffee and a finish of port, more sweetness, spice and caramel. The port cask adds a red-fruit and plummy lean over the familiar Quorhum base, though the influence is fairly subtle and shows most clearly on the aftertaste. This is a dessert-style ron through and through, sweet and easy rather than complex, and it is at its best as a relaxed after-dinner pour for drinkers who enjoy a soft Spanish-style rum with a gentle wine twist.
