A 12-year cask-strength blend of Long Pond, Clarendon and Hampden at 60.1%, bursting with tropical fruit, olive and pastry notes over real funk, intense and well integrated, a fine slow sipper or cigar partner.
Description
Old Brothers LPCH is a cask-strength Jamaican blend drawing on Long Pond, Clarendon and Hampden stock, bottled at twelve years old. Pulling together three of the island's most characterful pot-still houses, it sets Long Pond's Wedderburn funk and Hampden's high-ester intensity against Clarendon's workhorse depth, for a blend that aims at both fruit and richness.
Distilled on pot stills from molasses and matured in ex-bourbon oak, the blend lands intense and layered: pineapple, banana, solvent and olive on the nose, then tropical fruit, olive and vanilla across the palate, closing roasted with caramel, banana and pineapple. Unsweetened and bottled at a sturdy 60.1%, it balances an ester-and-funk core against a pastry-and-chocolate richness, with the strength well integrated. A characterful, full-bodied Jamaican for experienced palates, at its best as a slow sipper or alongside a cigar, with the fruit and funk easily carrying a drop of water.
