Neisson is a small, family run Martinique distillery with a strong following, and its Tatanka L'Entree du Chai 2022 is a young, high strength agricole from fresh pressed sugarcane juice. Distilled on a creole column, the still that defines the style, and bottled unsweetened at cask strength of 52.5%, it offers a concentrated take on the house's cane character.

The nose is focused and green, leading with sugarcane and a vegetal note, while the palate is oily and textured, mixing sweetness with sugarcane and a clear peppery spice. The finish stays dry, with sugarcane, vegetal tones and pepper carrying through. At cask strength it has weight and intensity, and a little water draws out more of the fresh cane and floral side beneath the spice.
