An unaged Martinique blanc from Neisson, the small family house at Le Carbet, off a creole column and led by sweet sugarcane, white flowers and fresh grass, soft and floral at a clean 50%.
Description
Neisson Tatanka Commandeur is a Martinique rhum agricole blanc, distilled from fresh-pressed cane juice on the family estate at Le Carbet. Neisson is one of the smallest distilleries on the island and a longtime favourite among agricole drinkers, prized for a blanc that is more floral and rounded than the briny, olive-heavy style some neighbours chase.
The spirit runs off a creole column still kept low so the green, vegetal cane congeners carry into the distillate, then rests rather than ages, which is what a true Martinique blanc is. The result is gentle and aromatic: sweet sugarcane and white flowers on the nose, grass and floral notes across the palate, with a soft natural sweetness that comes from the cane itself rather than any dosage. At 50% it makes a fragrant, easy Ti Punch and a clean base for a Daiquiri.
