Neisson Rhum Vieux BIO (LMDW) Batch 2 2023

Neisson is a small family distillery long prized by agricole drinkers on Martinique, and this organic Vieux for LMDW is its certified-bio cane spirit caught young. Distilled from fresh-pressed sugar cane juice on a creole column run low to keep the grassy congeners, it is bottled unsweetened and at cask strength.

The youth shows in the freshness: a nose of vegetal cane, lime and a distinctive hazelnut note, then a palate of fresh sugarcane and citrus brightened by pepper. The finish stays cane-driven, vegetal and nutty. At 51.6% the strength is well integrated, with a rounded sweetness balancing the green edges, so a few drops of water open it nicely. This is bright, characterful young agricole with organic credentials, equally good neat or lightly diluted.
