Neisson L‘Esprit de Neisson Bio 2020

Neisson's L'Esprit is the distillery's powerhouse blanc, and this 2020 organic release returns to a formidable 70%. Pressed from fresh red cane juice and distilled on the creole column still, it is bottled unsweetened in keeping with Martinique's cane juice tradition.

Distilling low to preserve the grassy, vegetal soul of agricole, it delivers enormous intensity that somehow stays soft. The nose is fresh, floral and intensely cane-driven, while the palate piles on sugarcane, citrus, floral notes and lychee with a warm, creamy mouthfeel that belies the strength. The finish runs salty, green and oily. It needs a long rest in the glass to unfurl, and a touch of water tames the proof without dulling the fruit.
