Neisson Le Rhum BIO par NEISSON 2022

Neisson is the small family distillery near Le Carbet, founded in 1931 and long a favourite for its pure agricole whites. Le Rhum BIO is its certified-organic Martinique blanc, made from fresh-pressed sugar-cane juice rather than molasses and bottled here unaged at cask strength, the freshest expression of what the estate's cane tastes like before any oak gets involved.

Distilled low on a creole column to keep the vegetal congeners intact, it lands at 52.5% with no added sugar and leads with sugar cane, lime peel and a lift of anise on the nose. The palate stays vegetal and dry with more cane and a touch of dried fruit, then closes warm and peppery with a wisp of smoke. Straightforward and clean in the best agricole sense, it is built for a Ti' Punch but has the proof and snap to be sipped neat by drinkers who want freshness rather than sweetness.
