Munakra Handcrafted Vienna Contemporary Gin Black

Munakra began with a few summer nights of gin and tonic and an Austrian couple's decision to make their own. They distil in a wood-fired copper still that has run for generations, beneath the rooftops of Vienna. The Black expression is built from a roster of dark botanicals: blackcurrant, elderberry, black tea, black mallow blossom, tonka bean and black goji berry, plus ten secret ingredients. Its mystical violet colour is entirely natural, drawn from those colouring botanicals.

The nose is fruity blackcurrant and elderberry with notes of black tea. The palate stays fresh and fruity, blackcurrant and elderberry joined by black mallow, tonka and goji for a soft, layered depth. It finishes long. The party trick: add tonic or anything acidic and the violet flashes to bright red, so build it tall over ice and let your guests watch it change.
