Moon Import Remember

Moon Import is a long standing Italian bottler with a fondness for older, characterful spirit, and this Remember release offers a softer, more restrained take on Jamaican rum. Distilled on the column still rather than the pot, it trades the heaviest ester intensity for balance and drinkability, a noble rather than brutal style.

The rum is unsweetened and bottled at a comfortable 45%. The aroma carries dark chocolate, citrus, polish and almond, the palate turns to tobacco, light funk and herbal citrus, and the finish brings vanilla, tobacco, smoke and a faint banana. There is a waxy mouthfeel and just enough Jamaican character to place it, without the board rattling intensity of Hampden or Long Pond. Reviewers tend to call it a well made, fairly priced easy sipper, a good choice for anyone who wants the island's personality in a calmer, more approachable register.
