Mezan 2010

Mezan is an independent bottler known for an honest, additive-free approach, and this Dominican Republic 2010 reflects that, carrying a ten-year age, ex-bourbon maturation and a natural 46% ABV with no added sugar. Distilled from molasses on a column still, it shows the lighter, cleaner side of Dominican rum without the rounding sweetness common to the region's commercial brands. Expect a delicate profile of light oak, faint caramel, coconut and a touch of orange, in keeping with an unsweetened tropical-aged column rum. The higher strength and dry build give it more definition than the typical soft Dominican ron, making it a more spirit-forward, contemplative pour.
