A cask-strength aged agricole from Guadeloupe’s Longueteau marking 130 years, bottled at 57.4%, opening fresh and vegetal before cognac-cask richness of vanilla, dried fruit, raisin and walnut over a round, spicy finish.
Description
Longueteau Rhum Vieux 130 Annees d'Histoire 2025 is an anniversary aged agricole from Longueteau, the oldest family-owned agricole distillery still operating in Guadeloupe, made at the Esperance estate to mark 130 years of the house. Distilled from fresh-pressed sugar-cane juice, it pairs the estate's fresh cane character with the deepening influence of cognac casks.
The nose starts with the vegetal freshness typical of agricole before giving way to clear cognac-cask notes of dried fruit, walnut and raisin, with vanilla and a spirity lift. The palate is round and woody with spice and vanilla, and the finish carries that cognac signature of dried fruit and raisin alongside fresh cane. Bottled at cask strength, 57.4%, it shows real intensity and benefits from a little water to settle an early solvent note. A drier, more spice-forward aged rum than a sweet molasses equivalent, this is a celebratory pour for drinkers who enjoy where European wine casks take French-island cane.
