An aged Guadeloupe agricole from Longueteau, the Cuvee 1940 drawn from fresh cane juice, matured eight years in ex-bourbon wood and bottled at 49%, grassy and dry in the house style of the island’s oldest family distillery.
Description
Longueteau, founded in 1895, is the oldest family owned agricole distillery still running in Guadeloupe. The Cuvee 1940 marks the estate's heritage and is made from fresh pressed sugar cane juice rather than molasses, aged around eight years in ex-bourbon casks.
With eight years of tropical ageing, expect the agricole character with good oak development, a grassy, herbaceous core gaining vanilla, baking spice and toasted oak, dry and spice forward rather than sweet. Bottled at a firm 49%, it is built for neat sipping where the cane and wood come together.
