Labourdonnais XO (Edition Feb 2022)

Labourdonnais is a Mauritian estate working in the agricole style from fresh pressed sugar cane juice rather than molasses. This XO is a single cask release from a February 2022 edition, carrying six years of tropical ageing in ex-bourbon oak.

As a cane juice rum from Mauritius it is agricole in style rather than AOC, but the character carries through, a grassy, herbaceous backbone given depth by the barrel. Six years under tropical conditions should add vanilla, baking spice and toasted oak to that fresh cane core. Drawn from a single cask and bottled at 42%, it sits in the dry, structured island tradition.
