Kintra Caroni 19Y HTR 1998

Caroni, the legendary Trinidad distillery that closed in 2003, remains the most mythologised name in rum. This Kintra release draws on the prized Heavy marque, distilled from molasses in 1998 and aged nineteen years before bottling at a robust 55.1%.

Matured in ex-bourbon oak, it carries the industrial signature collectors chase: black pepper and dark spice over toasted, almost burnt barrel char, with vanilla and a little caramel softening the edges. The heavy profile brings density and a savoury, smoky weight rather than easy sweetness, a full proof single cask built for slow, focused sipping. As a finite and increasingly scarce vintage, it offers a direct line to the heavy Caroni style at its most expressive.
