This is a 30 year old Colombian single cask, vintaged 1987 and bottled by Juuls Vin & Spritis under The Destinctive Spirits Co. label, a Danish independent selection. Drawn from one ex-bourbon barrel, it is a column-distilled molasses rum given unusually long maturation and presented at a firm 45%.

Despite the relatively restrained strength, it drinks intense and layered. The nose leans on overripe banana with deep, intense character, the palate stays oily and dry with a fruity, woody core, and the finish runs long with roasted wood, raisin and a drying edge. Three decades in oak give it real concentration and depth without tipping into harshness, a single-cask old rum carried by fruit and wood rather than any added sweetness. Some drinkers will find the lower strength keeps it civilised rather than fierce. A serious bottling for those chasing aged Colombian rum in its undosed, full-flavoured form.
