Blackwell Fine Jamaican Rum, Limited Edition 007, comes from J. Wray & Nephew, the house behind Appleton and a cornerstone of the island's rum trade. This molasses rum is bottled at 40% with no age statement, pitched as a gentle introduction to Jamaican character rather than a loud, high-ester showcase.
The blend leans on the smoother, more accessible side of Jamaica, where pot still weight is rounded out by lighter spirit for an approachable result. Expect woody, lightly roasted and nutty notes alongside vanilla, toffee, dried fruit and a whisper of ester on the finish. Although it drinks sweet and almost dessert like, it carries no added sugar, which makes it an honest, light bodied pour for newcomers and an easy mixer for everyone else.
