Inchgower 12 Years Old 2010 Cask #808336 (Pendulum Spirits Ltd)

Few Speyside distilleries taste of the sea, but Inchgower, near the Buckie fishing harbour, carries a briny, waxy character into almost everything it makes. Pendulum Spirits Ltd selected this single cask, distilled in 2010, and released it at 12 years old in its Fable Whisky - Chapter Ten range. Single cask 808336 gave 292 bottles, released for Germany.

The distillery's spirit is built for body rather than elegance, nutty and waxy with a coastal salt note unusual for Speyside. This bottling matured in an ex-Bourbon cask.

Bottled at its natural cask strength of 57.6%, without dilution, the refill ex-Bourbon oak works gently, vanillin reading as vanilla and furfural as a faint toasted almond. At 12 years the wood and the salty, nutty spirit are roughly in balance.
