Héritiers Madkaud Saint James Vieux Cuvée Renaissance

Heritiers Madkaud Saint James Vieux Cuvee Renaissance is an aged Martinique agricole drawn from the Saint James distillery and bottled under the Heritiers Madkaud name. Distilled from fresh cane juice on a column still and bottled at a gentle 40%, it is a vieux in the classic, understated agricole mould.

The profile is soft and traditional rather than bold. A relatively gentle nose offers vegetal cane, wood and freshness, the palate turns to vanilla, barrel and roasted notes, and the finish brings dried fruit and a fresh, fruity lift. Leather, cocoa and citrus and spice show with time, over a faintly charred undertone. It is light in body at this strength, leaning toward elegance over power. A relaxed, classically styled vieux agricole for drinkers who enjoy gentle aged cane rum with dried fruit and spice, suited to easy neat sipping.
