Description
Herencia Histórico is the top line of Tequilas del Señor, a fourth generation house working in the heart of Guadalajara, Jalisco. This bottling is a Cristalino, meaning a tequila aged the full five years that would otherwise earn the extra anejo grade, then filtered through activated carbon to strip the colour back to water clear so it resembles a blanco. The maturation here ran in ex sherry casks, an unusual choice that leans the profile toward dried fruit and roundness.
Made from Blue Weber agave and bottled at 35%, the result trades barrel structure and tannin for a soft, sweet read. Expect roasted marshmallow and coconut on the nose with dried pineapple and a vanilla yogurt note, then a fruity, faintly saline palate. As with Cristalinos generally, the filtration removes much of the oak grip the years in cask would otherwise show, leaving the sherry derived sweetness in front.
