Havana Club Edicion Profesional D 2019 is a Cuban rum from the island's flagship producer, a 2019 dated release in a more spirit forward, bartender oriented line. Havana Club is the archetype of light ron ligero, blended by master roneros for clean, elegant character, and this young expression keeps that lightness front and centre.

Distilled on column stills from molasses and aged briefly in Ex-Bourbon oak, it is restrained and dry: a brandy like, fruity nose with sugarcane underneath, then brandy and apricot on a light, clean palate. There is little of the heavy sweetness found in many Spanish style rums here, in keeping with Cuba's drier, charcoal polished house style, and its sugar status is undisclosed but reads minimal. A young, mixable Cuban built for cocktails and easy drinking rather than long contemplation, true to the island's lighter tradition.
