Long Pond is a historic Trelawny estate in the Wedderburn tradition, a pure pot still house known for funky, fruit forward, sometimes polarising high ester rum. Habitation Velier is Velier's Pure Single Rum line, single distillery pot still spirit bottled with no sugar, no colouring and no flavouring, here as an unaged white at a full 62.5 percent.

Without time in wood there is nowhere for the spirit to hide, and the ester driven character comes through raw and bright. The nose is overripe banana, ester, nail polish and solvent, the palate explodes with ester, banana, pineapple and spice, and the finish stays estery, mineral and fresh with a briny lift. This is the explosive face of Jamaican funk at full power, clean and undiluted rather than oak softened. A must try for drinkers who love Hampden style intensity, it shines neat for the brave and makes a ferocious Daiquiri.
