A tropically aged Clarendon from Habitation Velier, nine years in ex-bourbon oak at full proof, balancing ripe banana, tropical fruit and refined esters with woody spice and a dry, cocoa-edged finish at 62%.
Description
Habitation Velier Clarendon EMB 2010 is a Pure Single Rum, pot-still Jamaican distillate from a single distillery with no additives, no added sugar and no colouring. Clarendon, home of the Monymusk marks, runs both pot and column stills, and its pot-still rum can be deeply funky; the EMB mark gives a wood-driven take that sits a touch less wild than Hampden or the fiercest Long Ponds.
Distilled in 2010 and aged nine years tropically in ex-bourbon casks, it balances ripe banana, tropical fruit and refined esters with woody spice, finishing dry on dark chocolate and barrel. Tropical maturation builds real oak depth in under a decade, and the full-proof, additive-free approach keeps the spirit transparent. At 62% it is powerful but well-integrated, a benchmark Monymusk for drinkers who enjoy Jamaican funk but want it a little more wood-led and composed, rewarding a few drops of water.
