Description
Grand Marnier Cognac Orange Liqueur is a French orange liqueur from the house of Marnier-Lapostolle, an internationally recognised classic that has joined Cognac to bitter orange since the nineteenth century, and is bottled at 40%. The base is matured Cognac from the Charente region, whose warm, woody depth balances the fruit, refined with a distillate of orange peel that brings the citrus freshness. That Cognac base sets it apart from a clean triple sec.
The nose is aromatic citrus with a subtle sweetness and a hint of Cognac, the palate fruity and elegant with orange peel, delicate spice, fine sweetness and a soft Cognac influence, finishing long, harmonious and gently fruity and spicy. Behind the bar that oak and brandy depth is the point, adding richness rather than just a clean lift, which is why it shines in stirred and Cognac based drinks such as the Sidecar, the Grand Margarita and the B-52. It also refines coffee drinks and desserts such as crepes Suzette. Serve it warmed and neat as a digestif, or reach for it where an orange liqueur with depth is wanted.
