This official Glenfarclas, a 10 year old, at 40%. Glenfarclas is a Speyside single malt from Ballindalloch, in the heart of Speyside. It draws on that deep inventory for the Family Casks, single vintages reaching back to the 1950s. It launched the 105 in 1968, one of the first cask strength single malts sold to the public. Its whiskies are bottled at their natural colour, without chill filtration.

Worked unhurried through the stillhouse, the direct fired stills lending a nutty depth. A refill bourbon hogshead held it, keeping the full character to the fore. By the integrating teens the raw notes fade and esters build, the rich spirit growing rounder and darker. The wood frames the spirit without ever stripping the full Speyside body. The cool, slow dunnage ageing loses little to evaporation, the spirit holding its depth. The full bodied spirit takes active sherry wood well, carrying its dark sugars through the years.

At 40% it is rich, fruity and deep. Raisin, chocolate and a warm spice, lifted by a sweet oak. Beneath it run dried fruit, dark sugar and a warm spice. Dried fruit, spice and a soft oak see it out. This is the family sherry malt of Ballindalloch.
